Just a few images from a recent trip to Northern Labrador (Canada) were I "won" a volunteer position to pick up some garbage left by the US army after WW2 in a newly created National Park: Torngat Mountains National Park ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHNFsN7rqSY ). We were accompanied by a bunch of scientists (ornitologists, biologist, geologists, ecologists) and Inuit, including some elders: the "volunteer" trip was a blast (no phone, e-mails or other type of modern comm was great too... f*** sat phone: it was only available on the top deck and it was way too windy for that: the only thing that would make me go there was the view, not the phone). As you may notice there are no trees on the pics: all pics save the last 2, were taken above the tree line (pergelisol).
I took some distance from that polar bear before pulling out the camera...I was one of (if not) the last of the group and it was about 30ft behind me initially (I was a bit shaky and couldn't find the zoom when I took the pic lol...and it was foggy and misty) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...0/DSC00064.jpg

Looks like you had a blast Dtrips, I don't think I could handle anything like that, being without internet and all for so long, I would at least have to take a DS or PSP. I had no idea the North had so much color either. Thanks for sharing!

I really need to take a trip up North some time. I've been to pretty much every other region of the world, but aside from a brief trip midway up Sweden, I really haven't been very far North, which is a pity.

Edit: If you don't want to leave the country/can't afford to, NS, I believe they're visible from Orkney at certain times of the year. [Middle Class] Sometimes, though, I think it seems cheaper to go abroad than it does travelling about Britain; the trains are so bloody expensive.[/Middle Class]
Wow...I never knew it was *that* colorful up north. Though I'm moving (hopefully relatively soon) considerably south. This gives me incentive to come back up north again someday. Of course I have not seen too many places of the world just yet.
