The game's map is around 8mi² (20km²). GTA4's map was apparently around 6mi² for comparison.

I've managed to play a few hours this afternoon (up to being promoted to Traffic), and I'm really impressed so far, especially with the quality of the facial animations, and the voice acting in general.
I haven't followed this game much over the last few months, so I was bit surprised that the game seems to span 3 discs, but if they're all as good as what I've played so far, then going through them should be a breeze.

Ordered it from GAME, and get the bonus "The Naked City" case.
Looks good. great reviews. I'm just worried about a bug people are having where it apparently causes PS3s to overheat and maybe even shut down.

I've been playing for around 3 hours and its pretty boring stuff TBH... at least in GTA you had Cool Music and you could execute pedestrians.

Sandbox games have never been of much interest to me (whether it's the RPG kind like Oblivion or the action-adventure kind like GTA). But Rockstar got my approval with Red Dead Redemption. And LA Noire seems to confirm my newfound appreciation for Rockstar. Won't be able to play until the end of June, sadly, but I'm looking forward to it. Hope that overheating bug is fixed by then...

Investigating a scene (finding clues) - Sometimes fun and interesting but mostly just tedious.
Interrogations : Fun. I think, with the facial animation, they did well in trying to get you to think like a real detective!
Combat: Think Red Dead, just less weapons, and just less of the combat in general.
Chases: .........It's just a chase. I don't really think its good OR bad.
car chases: fun, id say. not terribly, but a bit.
The cases as a whole: Fun and interesting.
The game is difficult to get into but once you're into it I find you really get into the detective spirit.
3/5 id say.
EDIT: While logical, getting a lower case report if you end up running over civvies, is incredibly annoying. In all seriousness, I find civillian response in the game to be incredibly annoying. im in a car chase, siren blaring, and there's just some random guy strolling across the road...no glance..

Yeah I was getting all sorts of PM to my inbox on my youtube acct. from various other channels wanting me to check out vids and to go get my pre order before its release.
Guess with a name like "GTA(anything)" that's just asking for advertisements.
I usually reserve judgment and wait to buy. And I don't care if they say I'm "jew"ing them. Actually with jewish in my family I take it as a compliment.

Overall I really enjoyed it. I thought the ending was a little odd, though. Well, not the entire ending, but
spoiler:wasting people with a flamethrower seemed a little strange
Now I have an urge to play it again to get 5 star ratings on every case.

I quit half way in to disc 2, it became very repetitive and tedious quite early on, the amount of work that went in to making this giant detailed GTA type map was a complete waste of time and advertising lol, after the 3rd or 4th mission I just got my Partner to drive...
Graphics: 4/5
Interrogation: Cool, but the same for 20+ hours, so a possible 5/5, becomes 2/5
Combat: 1/5
Acting: 4/5
Re-playability: 0/5 (IMO)
One of the very few games I've owned and cannot bring myself to complete.

I'm actually surprised we haven't heard something about RDR. You'd have thought Xmas last year would have been the likely release window, based on the time between GTA4's console and PC releases. It would also seem to be a smarter option financially, as surely RDR on PC would sell more than LA Noire.
Concerning the LA Noire port, it's interesting that Rockstar Leeds (formerly Mobius) are almost exclusively handheld devs (PSP/DS/iOS/GBA), aside from a couple of PS2/Wii/PSX games. This is their first PC game. It also seems to be a studio completely devoted to ports, with no original IP from what I can tell.

Anyone else expecting this to be another tumor of a port that was GTA IV? Rockstar's stance on the PC market is apathetic and half-assed to the point of passive aggression. It's a big "piss-off" to PC gamers, as if it's aimed to spite everyone who wanted to throw money at Rockstar for a game.

I've heard about problems with GTAIVPC, but never experienced them. The game always worked perfectly for me. As for L.A. Noire, I guess we'll see - if it's really being released in the fall, then they've either planned for and worked on the PC version from the start, or it will be a rush job. I'm hoping for the former.

This game is not for PC! From what I've heard, it offers a more in-depth roleplaying experience than such action games *cough* er, RPG's as Dragon Age 2. I don't own any gaming consoles, so I consider this an injustice against PC gamers everywhere. Ripoff!!!

theyve put it on PC because it hasnt sold well and they need more money and this is their lifeline. this game is so unbelievably dull. I mean, the Black Dahlia murders and the final case of that sector are pretty neat but in general the game just sucks. The DLC is no better.
EDIT: as Alexrd said, Red Dead Redemption on PC please.
EDIT2: Thinking about it, RDR on PC could be a gateway to even MORE game of the years and such, like ME2 got more awards when released on PS3 this year.

Did only get a chance to play GTAIV for a couple of minutes on the PC, but it played rather awkwardly. If Noire gets the same treatment as GTAIV, then I'm bracing for another bad port. I'm going to get it later this year, probably on PS3 though.
I agree on RDR, though. Everybody should be able to experience that game. It's awesome.

it's worth a try, but It's so boring, it's cringeworthy. I haven't even completed the game. Not touched it for about a week and half, purely because I cannot be bothered to suffer that boredom.
I once played it when I was tired and couldn't sleep. 10 mins in, slept like a baby

Odd, last I read it has "shipped" over 4 million copies worldwide. Sales numbers put last month's number at 899,000 for the US alone. Sure it isn't GTAIV numbers, but I would still say it sold well...

It probably also has to do with the fact that A LOT of people own consoles and buy lots of console games... It's not like consoles are a niche market and the game got lucky.

Maybe so, but that still doesn't equate to it "not selling well" as an impetus for a PC port which is what you were claiming...
