Please describe for me the demographic that makes purchasing decisions based on a live-action trailer.

I can't describe the demographic, but I found one person that seems to like them.
Dragon Rage Abounds In Live-Action Skyrim Trailer
Not really sure the live action trailer is designed to introduce someone to Skyrim and then influence them to buy. It seems to me designed to push those that already looking at Skyrim to purchase it. Get a buzz for the word of mouth campaign too.

For Mim or the developers?
@topic; the Graphics are looking really good for Skyrim, though not sure how well my current rig would handle it these days!

Since when did TOR have live-action trailers? ME3 is the only other upcoming game I can think of that has done that.

I guess he's talking about the CG trailers. I definitely think they fall into this realm since they look nothing like TOR's cartoony crap.
I like the live-action trailer here even though it's a pretty weird thing to have... but still, soo psyched for this game.

CG is CG, not live action. The TOR trailers are a long way from photo-realistic. And as far as the "cartoony crap" goes, the in-game Malgus looks pretty damn good, the in-game Satele Shan and scarface trooper guy less so, but still recognisable. There's less disconnect between the two extremes. A live action trailer for a game is just weird. I felt the same way about the ME3 live action news report trailer.

It's a console port with higher res textures (if you are lucky). Any halfway decent system from the last few years should be able to run it maxed out. The only limitation will be how poorly optimised their new engine is.

How to be a complete bastard in Skyrim
Quote:
|
And so, the tale of the Argonian warrior Toxic, foe to all that is friendly, erupted. I left the cave, set off into the forests with an echoing roar, fell down a waterfall and died. The water in this game looks terrific, by the way - multiple layers of froth and foam collapsing together like sheathes of lace-edged paper, spilling between planes of rock. Reborn and undeterred, I followed the path instead...

Correct. I know they aren't live action, but the point is there not too far off in appearance, and look completely different than what the game looks like.

And then get this game. That I won't be able to afford for, like, 3 years.

According to Prima Games, the Skyrim strategy guide contains a large map poster inside labeled with important locations, major roads, and hold capitals. It also has multiple character builds based on hundreds of hours of playtesting revealing exactly what skills, perks, equipment, and other items to pick, and how to advance through the game, no matter the type of character you want to be.
In addition it shows where every rare item is ranging from Skill Books, Uniques, Weapons, every single Shout, Dragon Priest Masks, and much more!
Wait, there's more!...

Well.. it's Prima. It's what they do
But yeah, I won't be buying it.. but there is a market for it, so I'd suspect for those people, this will be the "holy grail" of guides for Skyrim.. hehe.
Me, I'm all for the (mis)adventures I'll most likely be having by being in the wrong place at just the wrong (right?) time..

I doubt you'll need to wait that long. Presumably the majority of the official guide's contents will find its way into various FAQs and walkthroughs around the interwebs the day it is released (or even beforehand, if it leaks).

Skyrim DLC Will Be Less Frequent, More Substantial
Quote:
You won’t have to pony up for horse armor again in Skyrim.
It might take you hundreds of hours to fully explore the massive world of upcoming role-playing game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, but developer Bethesda plans to add even more....
...“We’re not going to be doing a lot of it. Our high-level thinking is that there’ll be not as many [pieces of DLC], but they’ll be bigger and more substantial,” he said. “The goal overall is not necessarily to put out more content, but to make the game better.”
|
Relieved to hear it.. but I know I'll wind up getting any and all DLC's they offer
oh... and only 4 days to go! [/squeal]

You can get that if you visit a Dark Elf hooker if I remember correctly...still could take 4 hours though
Pre-ordered it a few weeks ago. Together with The Old Republic, it'll be my medicine for the cold days.

I don't want to be a party pooper, but the environments don't really look that impressive to me. There's very little diversity in terms of the colors they've chosen for their various environments - orange and brown seem to be the two dominant ones, with green coming in third. It's all very low-sat, as if they're going for something along the lines of photorealism, but the effort is undermined by low-poly asset models and it also wouldn't hurt to add a few more post-processing effects into the mix. I found the snowy environment the best looking one in that clip and even it could use some improvement.
On the other hand, the characters look pretty good.

It somewhat reminds me of Gothic 3 in terms of graphics, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. I just hope the engine will be smoother and more optimized than Oblivion's.
