Celebrating my sister's birthday today with some crabs, Maryland style. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I pity you.

Bowled in another tournament today...they had the shot I hadn't done well on (the "Dead Man") out today, but I was in good shape after 2 games because my spare game held me in good stead; it deserted me after that, and, had I been able to stay clean that last game, I might've made the cut. I'll take it...better than I had been doing on it.

Chris Bosh, LeBron James, and Dwayne Wades' attempt at stacking the deck to win a championship failed.
Wish it was the Lakers that took out the Miami Heat, but Dallas will do.

The Lakers didn't need another championship. Kobe already has a ton of rings. Dirk is older than him and finally has his one. I'm happy for him and J-Kidd, who finally got his too.

FYI my cat is scared of everything but animals half the size of himself. He hears kids outside walking to and from school and he dives for cover. If a dog even looks at him he teleports to his "safe area"

speaking of cats. The kitties had their check up today and their first shots.
couple of weeks now having them, just to think when we first got em i could almost grab their whole spine cus they were so skinny.
now they've became quite the couple of chunkers
so, those two Jae and Bob will be snoozing for most of today cus of the shots they got. Jae's got an eye infection but we've got meds for that.

For me it's the gloomy weather...
It shouldn't be fleece weather outside this late into June. And if I don't see more sun and less rain soon, I'm going to rust. So I just feel kinda... blah.
And it doesn't help that work is slow. Too slow. Which kinda sucks... because next week is totally crazy and flat-out again,.. and going from zero to insane with no kind-of ramp-up to it is going to kick my butt.
Anybody getting the new Duke Nukem? I had the first one (it was the first game I ever got for PC years ago as an XMas gift...) but I think I'll pass on this one.

played the demo of Duke. Sadly, I was not impressed.
Alas, Duke will be something I get in 5-10 years and have nothing better to spend my money on.

my problem with 8 hours of sleep is that i am not getting "Good" sleep due to my apnea. Takes me a good hour after waking up to un-zombify due to my oxygen deprevation, and often I want to take a nap in the afternoon.
Now that the weather is nicer, and the fact I do live IN the city of La Crosse, I am making a serious effort to bike anywhere that is less then 3 miles away when doing "Errands". It works out as long as the item you are suppose to return for store credit does not get left at home, and you only find out when you arrive at the store *facepalm*

Which one? Shift 2?
I haven't touched it since DiRT 3 landed.
The handling in that game is way too touchy for me. Rampant understeer which turns into insane oversteer halfway through a turn. Cornering in the higher level cars is damn near impossible without spending hours on tuning and changing gamepad settings. I want to get my hands on a wheel and see if that improves things in that game at all.
But if you want to compare stats, you really should load up Forza 3 again to see where things stand.
But I'll load it up some time I have a few minutes and see where we stand.
But if you enjoy the driving games, I cannot speak highly enough about the DiRT series... Which are all great, and my current favorites.

i'm averaging around 5-6 hours of sleep with my new job. it's great..and i get to work some overtime this friday.
Battle is a pure form of expression. It is heart and discipline, reduced to movement and motion. In battle, the words are swept away, giving way to actions-- mercy, sacrifice, anger, fear. These are pure moments of expression.

It looks pretty crappy. Not surprising, considering it has been in development for 15 years. But more than that, this just seems...really offensive. And not in a fun way. It goes too far, I think.

The first Shift. I've only played a few races, but I like it so far. Took a little fiddling with the tuning to get things right, but I can stay well ahead of the pack now.

Oh... OK.
I haven't played that one in many months... and though the handling was a bit more predictable, it still felt a bit squirrely to me at times. I'll put it in when I get a chance and see how we compare. I could use a challenge.
I really can't recommend getting #2 at anywhere near full price. I like the graphics, sound, atmosphere, tracks, and car selection... but the top cars are almost undrivable with a gamepad without much, MUCH tweaking. It's kinda frustrating, because the game seemed to have so much potential.

At the risk of sounding like a dentist, sleep apnea is a serious problem. Your dentist will at least be able to refer you to a specialist who can at least fabricate an appliance you can wear at night to keep your airway open.

getting pumped up for basic in august. it's going to literally be a hell of a time. Then I'm most likely deploying to Kuwait when I get back right after Christmas!

I saw a couple of the guys from the team when I was walking around Boston yesterday. There was a stage set up near the waterfront where they were.
I'm not a huge hockey fan... but it's always good to see one of the home teams make good!
Just as long as the duck-boat parade doesn't interfere with my commute to and from work, that is!
I took my first really long walk of the season after work last night. I needed it. I'm way behind schedule, thanks to the crappy weather, my weird work schedule lately, and trying to set aside enough time to the GF and her kids.

I've taken a few decent walks so far, but I'd like to make time for more. Maybe get back into running, but I think I need some custom shoes so I stop hurting my feet.

I tried riding a bike in and around Boston once.
It was something I never tried to repeat.
If I lived somewhere far more suburban/ rural, I'd probably have a nice bike, and ride often.
As it is: I don't care for the experience, and really have nowhere convenient in or around my place that I'd be willing to store a bike at the moment anyway.
So walking is still my best bet. I might be willing to try running at some point... but I still prefer the idea of walking mainly because I can do it in the same clothes I've been working all day in.

Walking is also good time for thinking. I find I tend to zone out and think about nothing when I'm running, because it's so unpleasant.

It's the nicest day in a week... And I'm inside trying to clean a virus off my PC.
One I caught doing something stupid, that I should have known much, much better about. Something that I have scolded others about after I had to clean their systems of crap. I clicked on a link in an email from someone who never sends me links... Or emails for that matter.
I feel like a moron...
But I'm very disappointed in AVG's inability to cope with it.
Malwarebytes seems to have caught it and fixed it... But I won't be comfortable until I run a few more scans and have them all come up clean...
Damn.

My fiancee got a malware on her computer that hid all the icons on the desktop and from Explorer. Ended up nuking the computer and reinstalling.
Looking to get a back up HD in the future for the both of us.
I other news our "wonderful" governor has given my Fiancee an 8.5% pay cut for being a State union employee and to "Balance the Budget". even tho she already makes 20% less then the nations average Civil Engineer. for over 4 years during the tough times of the Economy her Union has given up pay raises during negotiations in order to keep benefit costs down. In less then 6 months in office the Republican lead state legislator and newly elected governor have not compromised, and have not negotiated. And finally threw away 4 years of previous negotiations.
and people still wonder why 6 Republican senators are facing recall elections, and there is a very large grass roots movement to recall Governor Walker

Yeah... Sounds like the same one.
A lot of the desktop icons have disappeared, and it's blocking all attempts at running the antivirus.
Damn...
I'm going to try a few more things before taking the nuclear option.
I really hope it doesn't come to that... But I'm prepared if it does.

Trying to fix malware is a waste of time. Format, reinstall. Easier, less time-consuming.
