XWA Machinima?

I'm looking to make a machinima book trailer for an ebook featuring quite a bit of space combat. I was thinking I might dust off my trusty copy of XWA, but I'm concerned about rights, etc. Has anyone had any experience?

That's kind of a gray area...I don't know if you'd be able to use "stock" XWA in fan films because LucasArts IP would be involved. You might be able to use XWA with modified/replacement models such as those found on the XWA Upgrade Project site, but you'd have to get permission from the model makers to use them, and there have been easily a dozen or so people that have done "upgraded" models, not all of them that we're still in contact with.

Yeah, it seems like most of the old OPT sites have slowly disappeared. The Film Room really is perfect for this kind of thing, though. Ah well.
