Jedi Academy problem with foggy maps

I'm having a really hard time playing because of this problem, in single player, when I'm doing a mission where there is fog or mist (like rail,hoth,trip,vjun,rift and probably more later in the game), the display becomes really weird, lots of stuff is colored like the fog/mist therefor becoming impossible to distinguish.

I could really use some help because I'm tired of falling of stuff into the abyss because of it. I've found that when i look in the scope of the sniper i see everything as it should be (unfortunately i can't move when i do that).
I've played around with the settings but nothing seems to change anything

Hey, can you tell us what your graphics card is? And have you updated to the latest drivers for your graphics card?

Try doing /r_drawfog 1 in the console, which changes the mode of the fog to "linear", see if it works.
If it doesn't, you can do /r_drawfog 0 to disable fog completely.

the console tells me "r_drawfog is cheat protected" when i type the code in.

my graphics card is:
