Bethesda's strange use of Lawyers

Bethesda Softworks, known for their game series' Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, have been really strict with certain issues recently. I notice that videos such as E3 Demos have been taken off of YouTube and just recently, Mojang were contacted by Bethesda's lawyers, threatening to sue Mojang if they didn't change the name of their upcoming game, 'Scrolls'. They think that people may incorporate that game as part of the Elder Scrolls series, and therefore want it removed/changed.

Opinions?

Their use of lawyers isn't strange. They're just ****s.

Sadly, that is an all too normal use of lawyers.

Or perhaps the Uwe Boll method. Challenging one's enemies to a boxing match.

Pistols at dawn is also a fine alternative, with a rich history of conflict resolution.

Bethesda owns id now, so they could cheat at it.

would they risk that though? if they get caught under the public eye they are gonna seem even more pathetic than bringing up the court case in the first place.

But since most gamers don't read gamer news, and fewer still will care, that's not going to have much of an effect on their sales figures. So why would they care what you and three other people think?

What is the big deal? Just change the name of the game to rolled up strips of paper. Problem solved...everyone happy.

Parchments would be a good name.

Apart that its their right in the case of the videos, they might have been under an exclusivity contract with someone else....as for the the scrolls thing, I don't know enough to comment but maybe it was not just the name but the context in which it was used (type of game, presentation...was there anything reminiscent of some elder scrolls game - edit: oblivion color scheme and general setting maybe: http://www.scrolls.com/ )?
