silent hill revelation: pretty damn good movie, kept me awake, i usually fall asleep to movies but this one had a nice soundtrack, interesting monsters, nice special effects too...hoping they make a 3rd one, sean bean is pretty good actor for it.
now that it's 3am in the middle east i gotta rack out.

I lurk in these forums about once a week, not really sure why I tend not to comment. I guess I should start.
Hope all is well, its been a long time since I regularly contributed in these forums. I hardly know where to start. But I guess I'll start with this: it's good to be back. And I really really hope we see some more star wars video games in the near future, and I don't mean another lego star wars. How about another Jedi Knight installment? How about another X-Wing or Rogue Squadron game?

yeah that's kind of annoying but why i love mines and c4, they come and investigate where the shot came from, they get so ****ed up and if they group that's when mr rpg-7 comes in! Guerrilla Warfare techniques are key to survival in this game hahaha.
gotta realize the enemies in this game are all super alert due to the crazy drugs they're on as well.

hard to say where star wars games are headed considering that disney has the rights to everything star wars now. hoping SWTOR doesn't shut down anytime soon...

Disney has a LOT more cash and deeper pockets than Lucasarts ever had. They might be willing to invest in games that a smaller company might not be able to take a risk on. Kinda like LA was doing in the late 90's.
Or maybe they will just churn out tons of quickie, badly designed, middle-of-the-road commercial crap that will sell millions for a cheap buck... EA style.
Only time will tell.

I guess I forgot to mention that my virtual team locked up the championship with a week left; I don't put it up on our "Honor Roll" page until the last week (which would be posted today), but we got our forum ranks early.

Spent yesterday with a friend and her two kids, both toddlers, at the Aquarium. Fun! Although most of the best exhibits were closed for renovations. I'm glad I can get the tickets for free, as it would have been pretty disappointing had we spent a ton of money to get in. The kids had a great time anyway though. It's great to watch the world through the eyes of kids, to whom everything is a new experience. And it was good to catch up with my friend, who I haven't seen since before Christmas.
Watched Life Of Pi with mom last night. Left me thinking. Pretty deep... although on the surface, it's just an interesting story and pretty movie, you can really think a lot about the topics they touch on if you so desire. I did...
Long week ahead of me. Yay.
They booked events all day Easter Sunday here. That proved to be an unpopular move. A lot of us already had family plans. I know I did... it being one of the 3 days a year my entire extended family can actually manage to all get together in one place.
I hope that doesn't become a trend. What's next? Thanksgiving and Christmas concerts? 4th of July? I already work New Year's Eve and Labor Day most years for the college. What else do they want?!?? [/rant]

Bah. In my day, movies didn't come out for home purchase until like a year later. Kids these days, they never have to wait for anything. But the anticipation was half the fun, and made it all the sweeter in the end. Except no one would anticipate seeing The Hobbit again, because it was pretty crap.

It didn't follow the book well at all, which in itself isn't a problem, since they were trying to incorporate material from the appendices, and that could have been an interesting way to go. But the specific execution failed pretty hard a lot of the time. There were some good things about it, but it left a pretty "meh" taste in my mouth overall.

I liked the Hobbit for what it is, just as I like the LOTR films for what they are. I feel like the book is a totally different entity, and much more in depth and leaves more to the imagination. I love the books and the films for different reason.
I agree though, DVDs are released hella fast now.

I liked it too... though I had a lot of issues and some reservations. I think the biggest problem is that they started with a kid's book, and tried to make it a movie for grown ups... with all the foreshadowing to link it with the existing LotR movies... and it didn't quite work. The material, unlike the other books, is just too lighthearted to carry all that much weight.
I think the reason everything is so quick to release on video now, besides just keeping the revenue coming in, of course, is that everything is already digitally mastered before editing. Making a DVD master is far simpler than in the days of film... you just save the file in a different format, make menus and cover art and round up the foreign language files, add some director commentary and a few behind the scenes featurettes, and done! And most of that is done parallel with the making of the theater release these days anyway.
You used to have to scan each frame of film in high resolution after the main release, and do all the editing and mastering from back-up prints, which often had different edits than the final release. And then do all that other work.
Nowadays, the plans for video releases are finalized before the movie is even shot. A movie like The Hobbit especially so.
Soon we'll see home vid releases simultaneous with the film showings... or maybe even pre-dating them. Not on the giant blockbusters of course... but on films without a huge box-office hope the mechanical licenses and royalties from video sales and cable & Netflix showings are all the money many movies will ever see.

feeling anxiety missing my ex. had some dreams last night not too pleasant.
wrote her a long letter (4 pages) and sent her a gift. idk if that makes me feel any better, i just need to get some caffeine in me i think and i'll be better...need to revert to narcissism...don't really have any close friends here, hoping when i go to college i can make some good friends or find my soul mate there. i wish i could get over her...or get her back.

Did taxes today. Getting over $5,000 back. That should help with a few things...
Now... if I can manage not to have some seriously expensive crisis that depletes all of that before it can actually earn me some interest in the bank... like every other year of my life I've ever gotten money back from the government.

after a long discussion with one of my online buddies, i came to realize where I went wrong with her in the relationship, why she broke up with me, and why the relationship failed, and what i can do to get her back...story to be continued when i get home...this is either going to be an epic win or epic fail but i think i can get her back, and have a successful relationship with her once she sees how much i've changed, now that i have goals, career, and a sense of direction in life. it's all good...it's all good. gotta keep praying about it.

Yeah, I just finished mine too. I really need to be more careful about making note of items I donate to charity and such, as I'm sure it would make quite a difference in the total amount I am able to deduct.

All the stuff of my ex's that I brought to Goodwill is what made the difference. I estimated that had to be about $2,000 worth of stuff. Most of the clothes and shoes were almost brand new.
Next year, I'll probably claim my mom and be listed as head of household. That will help a lot too.

My league has been offering a form of side action called brackets (they work like tournament brackets) the last two bowling seasons. I'd get in a few occasionally, but more often recently, and I finally won one last week. I usually get in five of them, and you get $5 back for winning ($2 for second, which I had done before), so I broke even that week. Brackets are often offered in tournaments, too, but I don't usually get into brackets when I bowl a tournament b/c they often cost more (I think $3/each in the NAT).

I have two people interested in my Star wars EotE RPG. Trying to convince my wife to play. She rather watch TV all day, and complains she doesn't have any hobbies.
My one complaint is the game requires custom dice. With funky symbols and costs $15 for a set. You could get a Premium high end set of regular dice for that same price. Might just make a spreadsheet with Choose(randombetween(1,8),0,S,S,SS,SA,A,A,AA) to represent a skill dice

thinking alot about home this past week. i love my job here and all but making plans and having goals and hopes of when i get home what im gonna do.
1. go to ocmd for a week with my best friends
2. get back in college
3. get a girlfriend so im not lonely 60% of the time.
the last one is the most important one, at least now i will have the funds to go on the
e-harmony site and see if that actually works....k_k...you never got back to me how that works? does that have option to weed out non-subscribers?
really looking forward to college though i'll probably suck at it at least i can try to make friends there. the one girl that was in my college writing class last year is deployed here with me, however, as always...the girl is taken! but who knows she goes to same college as i do when im home and lives near me, people break up all the time...i just gotta lose my heart and not give a damn and just be a selfish ******* and go for the impossible without caring who i hurt in the process...
