How do i get a boat???

ok heres the deal. i have talked to the HarborMistress, and she says i need 'authority'. i have checked with a walkthrough and it says to talk to Eliane about it. Well Elain is in the mansion, and i try to talk to her but Guybrush says 'Nah, I think there was soemthing in our marriage vows about that'. so i cant talk to her.......anyone know what this means??

That's because you used the "Use" button, and you're not supposed to "use your wife." Check the manual to see what other buttons are available.
