Sithspecter's Midsummer Mod-Off (Updated/Revised)

Hello fellow modders of Holowan!

I would like to announce a small modding contest to encourage some friendly competition and new mods in the community.

The challenge is to create a reskin or a model of an item, character, weapon, lightsaber, etc.

Sign up in this thread by Saturday, June 21st! Updates should be posted in this thread. Contest will run until Saturday, July 19th. Entrants should submit a minimum of three screenshots of their mod.

Voting will run for 1 week.

While I like the idea of a mod competition, I'm not sure that module reskins could be considered "small". For that matter, your descriptions sound a tad more ambitious than simple reskins. And in only a mere three weeks. Perhaps tone it back to something a bit more manageable.

Fair enough. What would you suggest as an alternative?

Perhaps have two categories, reskins and models. For reskins, characters probably make the most sense. Could be a head, clothes/armour, whatever. For models, weapons are pretty straightforward. Perhaps that could be split into two categories, completely new custom models, and altered vanilla models (for people that want to tackle heads, etc.).

Do either one of those and I'd probably bite. I don't think I could keep my attention focused long enough to reskin a module.

It has been on a few occasions.

Took me around 12 hours. Still some tweaks I want to do, plus now I'll have to expand the scope of the project a bit.

To quote my post on DS:

Well, SS, it looks like I'm making the deadline to sign up, but just barely.

Due to my scarce modelling skills and my (IMO) ridiculously-limited skinning skills, I was in a pretty big debate as to whether I should try out or not...

So, can I submit more than one piece?

If so, I want to show a re-skin I made back in August-ish of 2012:

And a reskin I'm currently working on:

To FS, I was thinking on the lines of Dark Jedi Npcs you face in Kotor 1. with those hoods mask and their robes.

Types:

Matukai: Green with white trim. Set up to be a good melee fighter

Jedi Shadow: Black with white trim or option of purple instead of white. Bonus to stealth and sneak attacks.

Jedi Battle Master: Brown with off white. Better damage resistance and good melee

Jedi Watchman: Blue with white. Has Force Focus and Force Resistance.

Dark Matukai: Black with green trim.

Krath: Purple with grey trim. Blue with grey trim. Purple with blue trim. Depending the type of robe has favors a different type of Jedi.

Little update on what I got going. The plan is to make a small Jedi equipment pack. Including a hilt, headgear and a robe reskin.

So far I got the hilt worked out... I think. I've got ideas on paper, but needed some time to get them OK in 3D

Hilt has a been mapped, now to just slap a texture on it.
Next to that I put in some work for the headgear model.

Results so far:

I love the ZF-1 scene from The Fifth Element. If only the Mangalore from that movie asked what the big red flashing button was for. (heh heh)

Will this be for K1, TSL, or both?

Considering trying out (or returning to) SWTOR? You may as well go through my link and help get me some SWTOR referral points!

Just need to do a few to finish the skin on this hilt. Then hopefully it'll work like a charm in game.

The thing needs a name though.
And it'll be just this hilt that I'll release. Reason => A new dame has suddenly appeared in my life and I'm running out of modding time all of a sudden

I suppose now I could try making it accessible in-game. Although it's going to end up in my Korriban Expansion mod anyways.
