Need Hint - something of the thread & head

Hi-I just started playing MI2. I need to find something of the head & something of the thread.

I have a bucket of mud, that I assume needs to be used on someone/something. Right now I am having no luck finding out.

I feel STUCK. Also, any hints as to where I can find the "eye" for Capt. Dread?

I have come to a point early on unfortunately that i can not seem to pass. I can not seem to get into largos room or the kitchen of the bar. What am i missing? I have the bucket of mud and i have the string and stick to make the box trap, but i can seem to use any of it with anyone or thing. Help. Only hints though please. Thanks

Many years ago Agatha Christie wrote a screen play called "The Mouse Trap."
Perhaps it gives you a hint re what to do and later use for sabotage!

yeah i can get the mouse trap set up to catch the rat but i can not catch the rat. poses a problem. There is nothing to lure it in that i can find. another problem. is it just timing? and what is with the freaking gator?
